March 14 and 15, 2014 Tapped for 32nd Annual Event in San Antonio, Texas
San Antonio, Texas – Country Music Hall of Fame member and Billboard’s newest Legend of Live Award recipient George Strait has set the dates for his 32nd Annual George Strait Team Roping Classic (GSTRC), the two-day event held at San Antonio Rose Palace in San Antonio, Texas, for Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15, 2014.

The GSTRC is the largest open roping event in America with over $750,000 in cash and prizes available to the participants. The 2013 event saw 685 teams contending from all over the country for the chance to compete for the Grand Prize of 2013 GSTRC Champions. The event, which originated as a small family roping by George and his brother Buddy in 1982, has grown into the most prestigious open Team Roping competition in the country and consistently attracts the biggest names in the sport each year.

In 2013, Garrett Tonozzi won a total of $184,485 by coming in at both first and second place. He won $131,060 for heading with partner Dugan Kelly to win the overall championship, and picked up an additional $52,425 when he placed second while heading with partner York Gill. The amount is the largest total ever won at any of the historical events. In addition, Tonozzi and Kelly both received 2013 Chevrolet Silverado Dually trucks from Cavender Chevrolet in Boerne, TX as well as Strait X-Treme three-horse trailers from Bruton Trailers.
