| San Antonio, TX-----After suffering a short power disruption due to a circuit breaker failure, the 27th Annual George Strait Team Roping Classic is underway. George Strait welcomed all the fans and contestants and thanked all the sponsors who make the roping possible. 483 teams, 56 more than last year, were offically entered.
Bubba Strait roped three times with good times on two efforts. He missed on his second effort. His first time with Kirt Jones was a 5.76 and his third effort with Wayne Folmer was 5.85 which means that those two teams will be back for the second go-round.
George Strait roped his first steer of the day with Cliff Davis and they had a time of 7.35, good enough to come back. On his second effort during the first go-round with partner Joe Braman, they had an 8.51 and then had a 6.43, his best time of the day, with Frank Montague.
In the second go-round, neither George or Bubba's team was able to make a qualifying time.
